Planning a successful library move
Harrow Green, the company behind the major St Pancras relocation of the British Library and, more recently, the decant of Manchester Central Library, has produced a step-by-step guide to planning a library move.
The guide is one of the Keynotes produced by Designing Libraries. The downloadable document can be accessed via the resources page of the Designing Libraries website.
Harrow Green has managed a number of library relocation and interim storage projects, including the relocation of the British Library rare books collection to the St Pancras site, the John Rylands University Library move, the award-winning David Wilson Library at the University of Leicester and the current refurbishment of Manchester Central Library. The Keynote captures their experience in helping libraries plan and manage complex relocation and refurbishment projects, both large and small, that involve sequential packing, temporary storage and call-off, stock, furniture and people moves and overall project management.
