Restore Harrow Green Case Studies - Luton Dunstable

The Challenge:

To store and manage, offsite, 750,000 ‘active’ patient records and deliver any one of them, if requested, back in to the hands of the hospital in as little as one hour.

The Project:

Barcode ‘fingerprinting’ of every file and super-fast computerised ‘find and pick’ system supported by two deliveries per day and 24/7 emergency service.

Our Solution:

  • Automatic query processing and matching: every record can be located simply by quoting its hospital number.
  • Real-time tracking of every record on the move, from request to delivery.
  • Two daily deliveries and collections, and 24-hour emergency service.

Restore Harrow Green manages the L&D’s entire offsite record storage, some 750,000 items. As well as patient records, they store dental impressions, x-rays, theatre logs, fracture packs, maternity notes, A&E records and files from the L&D’s Obesity Research Centre. This is the sharp end of RM, where delays can have serious consequences.

The heart of the service is Restore Harrow Green’s twice daily delivery schedule and, more importantly, their emergency response service, on call all day, every day. The engine room is the O’Neil system, a world-class RM application that delivers extremely fast ‘find and retrieve’ results, including automated ‘route planning’ that plots the shortest journey around Restore Harrow Green’s 100,000 square foot storage facility to find dozens of unrelated files.
