Harrow Green supports The Big Sleuth

6/5/2017

Harrow Green has been chosen by Birmingham Children's Hospital as the official transport and logistics supplier for The Big Sleuth, a mass participation art and charity event.

Taking place over ten weeks from 10 July to 17 September the event aims to raise awareness of art in public spaces and to raise vital funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. From 4 July we will be moving all of the 100 painted bear sculptures to their intended locations in and around the city. We are also sponsoring two bears which have been painted by talented artists Jenny Leonard and Birmingham’s own Reuben Colley.

We are delighted that Birmingham Children’s Hospital has chosen us again as the official transport and logistics supplier, following on from our successful partnership with them for the Big Hoot in 2015, where we transported painted owl sculptures around the city.

Each bear sculpture and its plinth weighs a hefty 800 kilos, equivalent to the weight of a baby grand piano or, and very appropriately, that of an average brown bear. Wild in Art chose us as they know we have long standing experience of handling and moving large, heavy and valuable objects.
At the end of the event the bears will be auctioned off to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital to support health services for young patients from Birmingham and the west midlands. The Big Hoot raised over £500,000 for Birmingham Children’s Charity and our two sponsored owls were auctioned off and raised £15,800. We hope that this year the figures will go through the roof.
