Full Job Description

Department:

Operations departments

Responsible to:

Operations department management and supervisory staff.

Legal Responsibilities

Drivers are required to understand and comply with current legislation as it relates to EU driving hours and regulations and to ensure completion of tachograph recording equipment (digital and analogue) as well as retaining the appropriate records of activity.

Drivers must also obey current UK traffic regulations including speed limits. This includes adherence to parking regulations whenever operationally and practically possible.

Responsible for

The vehicle they are allocated and the load they are transporting.

Liaison with

Administration, sales, customer service, move management staff, other drivers and others in a supervisory or informative role - as necessary.

Main purpose of job

Completion of international and UK domestic relocations and associated operations which may include providing assistance in the role of a porter or appropriate supervisory grade on commercial moves. This will include (but not be limited to) the undertaking of international and domestic relocations from clients premises. The delivery and collection of any consignment to or from a warehouse and taking of accurate inventories or providing support to others who are inventorying a consignment for storage.

Undertaking all relocation tasks, in the role of driver, porter, packer or supervisory grade (as appropriate to their experience, ability and competencies) as requested by Harrow Green and the client (representative) in order to complete that task to the clients’ satisfaction. In this respect the driver will be provided with the appropriate job description, in addition to this driver job description, in line with ability and competencies and the responsibilities expected.

Code of conduct

All employees must pay due regard to the company code of conduct, in particular operational personnel must always show due respect to both client staff and others including their colleagues. This must include demonstrating a polite attitude, being patient with client problems and refraining from using offensive language or actions which may cause offence.

Overtime working

Whilst contractual conditions prevail Harrow Green employed staff must bear in mind that to allow Harrow Green to function efficiently and effectively there is a need for all staff to be flexible in the hours they are prepared to work to reflect both industry needs and compliance with current EU driver hours and regulations.
