Harrow Green Launches Engineering Division

Image: industrial printing pressHarrow Green is now providing a wide range of mechanical and electrical engineering services to industrial clients, and those with a need to install or relocate heavy machinery or technical equipment.

The company’s new engineering services division offers a far bigger and broader portfolio than Harrow Green has been in a position to deliver before in this area. Where previously it has offered small-scale activity and not sought to compete with the major service providers in this specialist area, the new division has been built purposely around a highly experienced team and a large investment in resources and new equipment able to deliver a full programme of activities.

As well as the traditional services associated with ‘heavy’ moving, such as machinery and factory relocation, the new division offers installation, mechanical and electrical planning and connection, specialist storage, shipping and export, and a complete design and build programme for new industrial facilities.

The new team, led by Stewart Purves – a former regional contracts manager for large projects worldwide at the now defunct Pickfords Vanguard – brings a personal track record of impressive projects to the company, including the relocation of an entire manufacturing plant from Portsmouth to Budapest, a car assembly line from the UK to China, and moving the heaviest ship-building yard in England from Southampton to Portsmouth.

“It is our intention to quickly build a similar track record under the Harrow Green brand,” says Stewart Purves. “We are already heavily involved with companies relocating as a result of the Olympic development, providing a complete design and build service for manufacturing facilities in their new locations. We are also in discussion with a major industrial equipment company regarding relocation from Dublin to China, and we are in the late stages of tendering to a leading British aerospace manufacturer for the relocation of their assembly plant to China.

“One key differentiator from the other major providers that I’ve worked for, or competed with, is that Harrow Green, as a multiple service provider, has a unique ability to combine engineering with its other services, which is of real value to the many industrial clients who have manufacturing and assembly real estate alongside significant office environments and the need to incorporate them both into one relocation programme.”
